My findings with Windows XP Pro and Vista
for my FT-857D
* I
use 38400 data rate on my rig as the display in HRD updates quicker.
* 4800 baud is the FT-857D default. Go to Menu 19 to change the rate.
* Only 1 stop bit is used for OmniRig when using VKCL Logger in XP Pro.
* Use 2 stop bits in OmniRig for Vista. Do not load prior to starting
VKCL.

Remember to substitute your com port number -
it could be different to mine.

Too many com ports installed due to USB/Serial adapters being
plugged in different USB Ports?
To remove unwanted com ports you will
have to show all the ports that are not in use.
To do this, click Start, then Run. Type in CMD and press enter
When the DOS window opens, type:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
(hit enter)
start devmgmt.msc
This will launch device manager with
an extra option. Click View, then Show Hidden Devices.
All com ports that are assigned to your computer will be shown. Simply
delete the ones you
do not need. COM 1 and sometimes 2 are reserved for the computer hardware
itself and may
not be deleted.

EG. for an internal LAN, 192.168.0.22
If connecting over the internet, enter the
IP address assigned by your ISP of the remote station

(With my Netgear modem router I had to modify the router to accept
the IP of the
Master router and route it to the IP of the remote PC.)
