Blind Incompetence

In this article, names have been changed to protect the innocent and the company name has not been used.

I feel I must share my nightmare lasting 4 months.  All I wanted was new vertical drapes to replace the 18 year old ones.

Never have I encountered such poor service and poor attention to details - and just gross incompetence.

Here is my diary...

24th April 2009

Vertical blinds ordered and told I would have delivery 2 weeks later.

One week later I am told the blind fabric is faulty, need to get more so it would be another 2 weeks.

16th May

Finally took delivery with the following faults

    1. Kitchen window drop too long

    2. All other blinds scrape the window sill

    3. All blinds have chains on them, when ordered without

    4. Main and Rear door drops touching floor in places, - had to remove the mat

    5. Cannot hang window blinds as incorrect brackets sent.

19th May (or near)

Charlie comes out to see what the problems with the blinds are.  He realized he wrote down the wrong measurement
for the kitchen window. He showed me the order where he informed xxxxxxxx Blinds that the measurements were exact and allowances will have to be made, so the rest of the problems were xxxxxxxx Blinds fault.

18th June (8 WEEKS Since order),

Took delivery of 'remade' blinds with the following faults!

    1. Once again, NO brackets to hang window drops -

    2. Main and Rear door drops still the same length and dragging on floor.

I was informed that the extra blind which was made free of charge for the stuff-ups was still being made.

23rd June

Yesterday afternoon Charlie phoned and said the brackets will not be here today as previously informed.

To cap things off, the plastic handle that opens and closes the blinds fell off

- YES, FELL OFF - the door entry, because the quality is just not there!.

27th June

Kim, Charlie, and the woman from xxxxxxxx Blinds, Cheryl, called in to install the blinds.  I was in my office with a customer at the time, and Cheryl came to the door and, interrupting my conversation with my customer, she said loudly, “you must be Alan”.  I asked her politely to give me ten minutes as I was with a client.

On inspection of the blind I had installed in the door way, Cheryl commented that the blinds shouldn’t be opened
with them as closed up as they were, saying they are the best tracks in the country. The crazy woman was holding
the opening rod in her hands that fell off a couple of days before, thereby not allowing us to open the blinds.
She was not apologetic.

They said they would fit the blinds, but after all the mess so far, I preferred to do it myself and told them so.

Cheryl had the brackets for the window drops and I was also informed the extra blind for the bedroom was at the Gatton depot and should be ready for collection on Monday.

Interestingly, the brackets were given to me in an express post bag, with Cheryl’s private address on it.

28th June

I fitted blinds and bent up front and back door brackets to stop drapes dragging on the floor.

The rod used for opening the blinds is far longer than the length of the blinds and rubs on the window sill.  I had to cut to length myself. One would have thought that these little problems would be sorted prior to delivery.

I am still waiting for the Bedroom Drop, and one more set of window brackets.

29Th June

I received an email cc’d to me from xxxxxx, requesting the order for brackets.

6th July

I received an email letting me know that my other brackets are ready for collection.

I returned an email requesting them to drop off on their way home, but said they would post them.
I told them I would pick up the brackets myself.

8th July

I stopped in to collect brackets from supplier.  Once again they are the wrong brackets!

I give up in disgust.

13th July

Surprise… 3 correct brackets arrive in the mail.

18th July

Just might mount the last 2 blinds this weekend.
